Event Overview

Historically, participants from all over California enjoy this legendary trail ride that gives riders a glimpse of rural America right in the heart of Silicon Valley. 

The Ride Route

The official route is on the Woodside Town Trails and Ride Stops include both public and private horse-friendly locations, concentrating in the areas near central Woodside. New trail loop at the Horse Park at Woodside in 2023!

Frequently Asked Questions - 2023

How does it work?
  • The ride is open to the public; all participants must be mounted on the trail ride.
  • The Ride is from 11am-3pm. The after party is from 3-6pm
  • Boots and helmets are strongly advised.
  • You must bring your own horse.
  • No stallions are permitted.
  • The route will be “Take Your Own Line” within the time allowed and will encourage an efficient path to all stops.
  • Riders may start at any point. The official route will use only town trails without gates and a new loop inside the Horse Park at Woodside..
  • Stop locations will be annotated on the rider map with directions as needed and well-marked signs.
  • Stops include both public and private horse-friendly locations, concentrating in the areas near central Woodside and the Horse Park.
  • Once your registration is complete, you will have a rider packet assigned to you. It will include:
    • your rider number and QR code
    • the rider map showing the route and ride stops
    • safety and emergency instructions
    • other rider information relative to the year registered
  • Your rider packet will be sent to you before the ride. If you register after Oct. 5, you will need to pick up your rider packet at the WHOA! desk at the Horse Park.
  • Yes. This ride is for riders who bring their own horse or equid.
  • NO Stallions allowed.

Registration and payment online is preferred. 

  • All riders must pre-register, sign a liability release, and pay a fee per rider.
  • A complete submission must include registration form, payment and signed waiver.
  • Online registration is open untli Oct. 11. after that date, you will need to register at the WHOA! desk at the Horse Park.

  • A registration fee is required to participate. The fees are:
    • $35 for under 18 years old 
    • $50 – Register by September 15, 2023 (EARLY BIRD STATUS)
    • $75 – Register after September 16, 2023
    • $100 – Register the Day of the Event. (at Horse Park Woodside)

Day Stall Use
$25 Stall – Day Use (includes 1 bag shavings)
Reservations in advance are necessary. Select the option during registration and make the payment online.

  • Release agreements for the Horse Park must be completed and signed in advance-COMPLETE ONLINE NOW
  • Temperature logs must be kept and posted on the stall throughout the stay: DOWNLOAD NOW

Overnight Stay:
RV hookup Friday and Saturday overnight is possible. Stalls, shavings and hay will be available this year. NO TENTS.

  • Reservation and payment in advance is necessary. You can indicate if you need Horse Park services while registering to Ride. Payment is done at the same time as paying to ride.
  • Stalls and RV hookups will be assigned once reserved and paid for.
  • Release agreements and a horse health declaration for the Horse Park must be completed and signed in advance. This is available as part of the online rider registration process
  • Temperature logs for three days prior to arrival must be completed and brought to the Horse Park for admittance. Temperature Logs must be kept throughout the stay. The form will be available on each stall.: DOWNLOAD NOW
  • You must read and abide by the Horse Park Rules: DOWNLOAD NOW

Arrival and Departure Times:

  • Arrival Friday 10/13 from noon
  • Departure by dusk Saturday or Sunday

Is riding permitted Sunday?
Yes, if Saturday night is paid for then riders can ride on the perimeter of the HP on Sunday OR ride on Town of Woodside trails, starting from the HP.

FEES: (must be paid in advance when registering to ride)

  • $50 RV Hookup (with water and power) ($25 for a second night)
  • Stall – Overnight $75 1st night (includes 2 bags of shavings) / 2nd night $25
  • Stall – Day Use $25 (includes 1 bag of shavings)
  • Additional shavings – $12 a bag
  • HAY: Alfalfa, Alfalfa/Grass Mix, Meadow Grass – $34/bale
  • Orchard Grass – $35/bale
  • Timothy – $36/bale

Costumes reflecting the 2023 theme are encouraged, though any costumes are optional!

The theme for 2023 is “Let it Be in 2023-the 60’s & 70’s”

YES!  All riders dressed with the 2023 theme will be judged.

What are the prizes?
The winners will be announced at the After Party at the The Horse Park at Woodside. Prizes are still in the works, but they’ll be worth it…Winners must be present to win!

The Drawing for early bird registrants will be held. Winners must be present to win.
